High Level Ropes and Zip Wire
The high level ropes course and the 112 meter Zip wire are the first of its kind in Wiltshire. The course comprises six separate elements as listed below. Each activity involves a different combination of team work from independent involvement to working in teams of 12. Individuals will learn to complete each activity and learn support roles such as belaying and equipment organization.
RUNNING TIME: 2 hours per session (Max. 12 pupils/students per session)
CRATE STACK (click on images to enlarge)
Can you build a tower of crates whilst balancing upon it? This activity involves planning, communication and team-work, to speak nothing of incredible balance! Students will learn to belay their team mates and work the crate winch
LEAP OF FAITH
Confront all your fears at once by climbing up a 10 foot pole and then leaping to catch a static trapeze! This adrenaline rush activity helps individuals to over come their fears and apprehensions to independently complete a task. This activity is belayed by a qualified instructor.
A piece of equipment based totally around teamwork. Four students are needed to belay the four ladder climbers. The aim is for all of the team to ascend to the final sixth rung of the ladder. Students will physically and mentally help other members of the team to complete the activity to their personal best. Some of the methods used to compete this task have been unconventional and extremely athletic! Rules to this task can be changed to reward the efforts of less able climbers.
HIGH ALL ABOARD
A high post with a small platform! Once you complete the complex and physically demanding climb to the top of this post, you will need to balance on a small platform with up to 3 other teammates. This element has many extension activities, such as holding hands and leaning out or balancing on one leg or even getting the group to do the hokey kokey!
This element involves three individual challenges. The task involves two climbers that firstly have to complete the postmans walk, a rope handrail and walking line, passing in mid air the individuals then ascend up to the horizontal poles, which have to be crossed with no handrails. The final level of the parallel poles involves crossing the ‘Indiana Bridge’. A wooden planked bridge with progressively widening gaps, can you make it to the middle of the bridge, pass your partner and complete the challenge?
The challenge, a 9 meter climb up a vertical/angled wall to stand on the climbing tower platform and then launch yourself down 112 meter zipwire to the ground! The zip wire combines determination, self control and bravery. It is very exhilarating!! An extension activity involves throwing a beanbag at a target as you zip along the wire!
