Accomodation and Food

Braeside was built in 1900 and has been a home, a grammer school and now an outdoor education centre.
The centre has 99 beds in total.

Beds are made up ready for your arrival, with sheets, pillows, duvets and linen.

Bedrooms are located on the first and second floors in the Main House and in two smaller separate buildings called the Laurels and the Beeches.
The Beeches and Laurels are on the ground floor and are accessible for all.

There is a seperate Dining Hall building, within close proximity of the main house, containing a commerical kitchen, serving hatch and dining area. There are also 2 bathrooms (including 1 accessible) within the Dining Hall.

Accommodation - Main House

Main House

Each floor has its own electronic key-code access.
All bedrooms have lockable doors. Keys are given to school staff for their bedroom.

The accommodation in the house is arranged over 2 floors, with 12 bedrooms and 68 beds in total.

This includes; 4 double/twin rooms with private en-suite bathrooms, 2 twin rooms, and varying sized dormitory rooms with 4 shared bathrooms as well as a teachers lounge on the first floor.

The first floor has 7 bedrooms with 47 beds in total.

The top floor has 5 bedrooms with 21 beds in total.

The Ground Floor has 3 lounge/conference rooms for recreation and teaching;

  1. ‘The Lecture Room’, a large open conference/lecture room, which has a projector, tables and chairs – this seats 65 in a theatre style.
  2. ‘The Lounge’ is a beautiful comfortable area with sofas, a large ornamental fireplace, piano,table football and indoor games.
  3. ‘The Library’ is a large open room with sofas and chairs, a piano and 4k TV

The ground floor also has Ladies and Gents bathrooms, and a servery area with a hot water boiler, dishwasher, microwave and fridge – perfect for refreshments.

New for 2021! We have upgraded the staff accommodation in the main house to private en-suite bathrooms!
As well as creating a memorable stay for the young people, we want the accompanying adults to have a comfortable stay.

Staff Bedrooms are situated close to students on each level to ensure suitable supervision.

Accommodation - The Beeches and Laurels

Beeches and Laurels

The Beeches and Laurels are on the ground floor and are accessible for all.

The Beeches is located to the right of the main house and can accommodate up to 19 guests.  Made up of 1 single room with an en-suite, a twin/double room ,4 bunk rooms, an all in one accessible bathroom, a communal bathroom with 2 toilets, showers and sinks, and a small kitchenette diner. There’s also a small conservatory with underfloor heating for teachers to relax.

The Laurels is to the left of the main house and can sleep 14 people, comprised of 3 bunk rooms and a twin room for staff. There are 2 separate bathrooms , both all in one, with one accessible.

Food at Braeside

Our catering team freshly prepare homecooked meals on a daily basis and use locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. Our meat is supplied by our local farm shop ‘Home | Poulshot Lodge Farm‘, our dairy is supplied by ‘Home | Planks (planksdairies.co.uk)‘ and our fruit and veg is supplied by ‘Village Veg’, as well as Braeside’s on site gardens.

New for 2022 – Self Service Salad Bar. On offer alongside all evening meals we Braeside’s salad bar which contains a variety of fresh, seasonal salad items.

We aim to offer healthy balanced menu presented in a way that is familiar and appetising to young people. You can view our current 3 Day Sample Menu, or our 5 Day Sample Menu.

Specific dietary requirements and allergies will be catered for but must be notified well in advance of your visit.

Children are provided with snacks and refreshments such as squash, water, fresh fruit and biscuits.

Staff are provided with hot and cold refreshments, as well as homemade cake and biscuits.
